The topic of increasing efficiency and reducing costs is extremely relevant for any company; the maritime industry has not become an exception. The main components of competitiveness are professionalism and high productivity, as well as cost reduction. Nevertheless, competitive marine companies do not cut costs by the training system for seafarers. Investments in recruitment programs and training of marine personnel give to navigational companies a competitive advantage. Shipping companies prefer to use the services of manning agencies for effective management of maritime personnel, where seafarers are fully supervised by crewing managers. The article describes the process of training maritime personnel, both at the legislative level and on the part of the ship-owners.
