Cross-cultural aspects of depressive disorders (literature review

Migration of the 21st century remains one of the most controversial and persistent social and political problems throughout the world. For individual migrants difficulties associated with revolution, loss and settlement will probably increase their vulnerability to getting mental health problems. The paper deals with problems of ethnopsychiatry associated with factors that contribute to increase in depressive symptoms among migrants. The article focuses on ethnic and cultural factors influencing the peculiar course of depression in ethnic minorities.
