Xenonymic nomination when conveying Russian urbanonyms in English-language travel guides

The article is devoted to the study of translation methods of Russian urbanonyms, which are idionyms of Russian culture, used in English authentic and non-authentic travel guides. Different ways of representing xenonymic nomination are also analyzed, among which the interlinear method of translation is the most likely to be reversible, implemented through such techniques as transliteration and transcribing, calque, creation of hybrid formations, as well as parallel connection. Based on the results of analyzing the texts of authentic and inauthentic travel guides and cultural dictionaries, we can conclude that there is a need for recommendations for describing Russian culture in English, one of which can be the use of the interlinear method of translation when transferring urbanonyms.
