Kuban in the last third of the 19th century: some aspects of agricultural development

The fertile climate and fertile lands of the Kuban region contributed to the development of agriculture in this area. The development of a new territory is usually associated with agricultural activities, as agriculture is basically the source of existence of any nation. This topic retains its relevance these days as well, since food security contributes to the economic prosperity of the country. It is stated in the present study that during the designated period in the Kuban region, along with grain production and cattle breeding, other branches of agriculture were being developed, which played a significant role in supplying the local population and Russia in general with vital products. The study is based on the works of authors of the pre-revolutionary period, as well as articles of modern researchers in the regions. The novelty of the research is that for the first time it introduces into scientific use the documents testifying to the evolution of the Kuban agriculture in the conditions of capitalist relations development. Various sources were used, including the materials of the State Archive of the Krasnodar Territory, as well as data published in the Chronicle of the Central Statistical Committee, and the collection of works “Ekaterinodar - Krasnodar. 1793-1993”. There is also set a goal of further development and scientific analysis of the considered problem.
