The article is part of a research program aimed at understanding the cultural foundations of Chinese civilization. The main thesis of the article is the idea that cultural transformations at each step of the development of Chinese civilization are accompanied by economic and political transformations. Chinese culture is designed to indicate the vectors of development relevant to each historical stage. The article interprets an exhibition of children’s drawings in which schoolchildren dream of the future of China in 2035. Following the logic of agonality - competitiveness, the Chinese set ambitious goals while maintaining cultural continuity. Chinese culture reveals a direct connection with language, embodied in the very concept of “culture” in Chinese. Culture has always accompanied and continues to accompany large-scale social transformations in this country.
