Based on the works of researchers, the article examines the resettlement of peasants on the territory of Kazakhstan in the second half of the 19th century - early 20th century. The colonial policy of the Russian Empire in the region was based on the resettlement of peasants from the central regions of the empire to the newly conquered lands. At one time, employees of the West Siberian Branch of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society studied the agrarian policy of the tsarist government in the Irtysh region of Kazakhstan.
