Cultural values of Russian youth and migrants from Central Asia

Based on the analysis of the works of domestic authors studying values in the regions of Russia, the paper identifies the main factors that affect the expression of cultural values among Russian youth and migrants from Central Asia. The authors of the paper conducted their research according to the method of Schwartz. They polled 182 Russian citizens and 222 migrants from Central Asian countries. The results of the research showed that all ten types of cultural values are expressed in migrants more than in representatives of Russian youth. It was concluded that the high level of significance of the cultural value of young migrants from Central Asia is associated with their adherence to traditional religious and ethnic culture. The cultural values of modern Russian youth are not so strongly expressed due to the fact they are influenced by several alternative axiological attitudes, which are transmitted by Western culture, modern Russian ideology, Soviet, religious and ethnic traditions, as well as youth subcultures and opinion leaders.
