Culturology of conflict: toward a problem statement

The concept of “conflict” is deeply considered in conflictology, political science, and the theory of international relations. The main approaches to the system analysis of conflicts are borrowed from psychology and sociology, but it is obvious that there is a cultural subtext in almost any conflict, regardless of its form and type, which actualizes the consideration of this concept as part of cultural studies. The relevance of such a study lies in justifying the development of such an original direction of theoretical and applied research as the culturology of conflict. The research problem is the contradiction between the need to study the aspects of the conflict as a cultural phenomenon and a shallow, unsystematic comprehension of this phenomenon in the context of cultural studies. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that in the process of analyzing the research problem, the object and subject of the cultural studies of the conflict were identified and substantiated, the two main theoretical approaches to the study of the conflict as a cultural phenomenon were characterized, the main directions of the study of extensive theoretical material in the context of the culturological approach to the analysis of conflicts were presented.
