Kuren, kuren settlement, stanitsa: the base of the Kuban Cossack host and the Krasnodar region

The Krasnodar Region is a constituent entity of the Russian Federation located in the Southern Federal District. This region is rightfully considered as the breadbasket of Russia, but its main wealth are people, history and spiritual heritage reflected in the culture of the peoples inhabiting Kuban. The Krasnodar Region is a multiethnic union of peoples. The region has a rich history, the most important stage of which began in the late 18th century with the migration of Cossacks to the Kuban. This history is a repository of human memory, traditions, friendship, born in the conditions of a joint life for more than two centuries, the Cossack glory of our ancestors. It was with the kurens, the stanitsas the Cossack army was formed, as well as the Kuban region, the Kuban district and the Krasnodar Territory, the economic potential grew and the spiritual and everyday culture of the Cossacks revived to a considerable extent. More than two hundred years of the history of the Kuban contains many tragic pages, but military prowess and readiness for heroic work for the sake of Russia's prosperity at all times have always been inherent in the inhabitants of this region.
