The basics of religious culture and secular ethics course as the basis for religious school education component in modern history

The article discusses the problem of the relationship between the module choice of The Basics of Religious Culture and Secular Ethics course and the features of the specific region. The study describes the results of the introduction of the aforesaid course based on a questionnaire conducted by the author among the students studying The Basics of Religious Culture and Secular Ethics course at schools of Vladivostok. The author substantiates the necessity of intensive researching the results of the introduction of the abovementioned course into particular schools, the importance of defining the reasons for the difference in the choice of modules at schools, in cities and regions. Besides, the paper reveals the predominant role of parents’ decision in the choice of module, the acceptable level of children’s readiness for the perception of the course and their positive attitude towards the subject in general. Nevertheless, nowadays there is no basis for conclusions about the specific impact of the course under review and its individual modules on the moral development of the students.
