The purpose of this article is a comparative study of “courtly love”, theoretically expressed and reasoned in A. Capellanus Latin treatise “De amore” and its rethinking in Spanish late medieval texts. After investigating the origin of love, its types and epithets that characterize it, we analyze the same things in Spanish tradition. We consider that, on the one hand, the Spanish treatises continue the existing line of “courtly love” doctrine, but on the other hand, they bring specific conception of this appearance because of evolution and different consideration of love, due to Spanish norms and its artistic expression.
