The reviewed book is devoted to the last and the most dramatic period of existence of the main higher military educational institution of the Russian Empire - the Imperial Nicholas military academy. The First World War, Revolution of 1917 and the Civil War had a powerful effect on the educational process, the political consciousness of teachers and students. 1918-1922 was the time of repeated displacements of the Academy for the East of Russia. Analysis of materials of 17th Russian and foreign archives has allowed the author to make a detailed reconstruction of the activities of the Academy as an institution and collective. Great attention is paid to the survival strategies of the institution in the conditions of the political transformations.
