Boards of judges as a tool of reinforcement of judicial branch vertical: cratological review

This article deals with the institutional and functional role of the boards of judges in the political and legal system of Russia. It is noted that the creation of the judicial «vertical» affected the way of their formation and violated the principle of separation of powers, making these agencies largely dependent on the head of the Russian state. Institutional dependence was strengthened by introduction of the declarative acts into their practice. Institutional and functional transformation of the boards of judges contributes to re-institutionalization of the judicial authorities into the repressive institutions of the political system of Russia.
