GERD is a chronic recurrent disease caused by a violation of the motor - evacuation function of the organs of the gastroesophageal zone and characterized by regularly repeated throwing of stomach contents into the esophagus, and sometimes the duodenum, which leads to the appearance of clinical symptoms that worsen the quality of life of patients, damage to the mucous membrane (CO) of the distal esophagus with the development of dystrophic changes in the non-corneal multilayer squamous epithelium, catarrhal or erosive-ulcerative esophagitis (reflux-esophagitis), and in some patients - cylindrical cell metaplasia.
