The treatment of a patient with ankylosis of the knee in a faulty position

A major procedure is described for the correction of lower limb faulty position due to the knee ankylosis of tuberculous etiology in a male patient at the age of 19. A t the age of 3 years the patient got over tuberculosis of the bone epiphyses forming the knee. A flexion setting in the knee occurred and ankylosis developed. After performing osteotomy along the union line the faulty position of the limb was graduatedly corrected using the Ilizarov fixator. The advantage of osteosynthesis with the Ilizarov fixator for this pathology treatment was demonstrated.
