Treatment of eye diseases using cell transplantation

The advantages of using cell therapy, which is very popular at present, in clinical practice, especially ophthalmology, are limitless. The urgency of the rapid introduction of a new direction in medicine - the use of stem cells in the treatment of various eye pathologies, including degenerative diseases, gives the unique biological characteristics of these cells. Moreover, over the past 2 years, the therapeutic effectiveness of cell transplantation has registered high success in the treatment of various ophthalmic diseases. In this study, the possibility of using stem cells in the treatment of ocular pathological processes, such as age-related macular degeneration of the retina, optic nerve atrophy, retinal pigmented dystrophy, is considered.
