The article deals with the results of a semantic experiment carried out on jargon material. The experiment records the changes occurring in slang vocabulary semantics during the last 20 years. The analysis of experimental data made it possible to resume the necessity of addressing the metalinguistic cognition while compiling and reissuing the uncodified lexis dictionaries.
