The article deals with the philosophical and aesthetic aspects of musical and theoretical views of Leonhard Euler (1707-1783), a Swiss scientist, who worked for a long time in Russia. Although historically explainable limitations, these views are of great heuristic value, which makes them relevant up until now. The article identifies Euler’s typical views regarding the problem of musical content, points out Euler’s approach to the concept of information in music, analyses the scientist’s contribution to the debate on the light-music synthesis, notes the promising value of the connection between the pitch and rhythmic organization of music.
