In the article authors attempt to identify the Lermontovʼs pretexts in the poem by A. Vvedensky “The Sick, Who Became a Wave”, as well as the characteristics of its use by the poet. The article concludes that Vvedensky doesn’t work with quotations, but with the complexes of meanings taken from the works of other authors. References to one or another pretext occur in waves, alternate throughout the poem. Each intertextual inclusion is autonomous. Usual logical correlations are absent. According to the OBERIU declaration which stated that «poetry - not semolina, which is swallowed without chewing, and about which immediately forget», the reader is invited to do an independent analysis on the restoration of the semantic context of images and links.
