Forest tree breeding in Russia: achievements, challenges, priorities (overview)

The current state and achievements of forest selective breeding in Russia are considered in the article. A detailed overview of the tree breeding and research programs implemented in the country is provided. The main problems that reduce the efficiency of forest selection are formulated, as well as priority research directions on forest tree breeding in Russia for the near future. Concrete steps are proposed for capacity building and research in this area.
