Forestry in the republic of turkey: overview

The article provides an overview of the current state and management of forestry in Turkey and attempts to cover all aspects of the key issues of forest management. The forest management structure based on the current forest legislation of Turkey is presented. The characteristic features of the country’s forest resources are highlighted and described, noting the differences between the term “forest” and the FAO definition. The outlined ambitious goals for reforestation, changes in the degraded forests of the country are shown. The climate policy of the country in the forest sector is considered, the commitments of the country to achieve zero emissions greenhouse gases by 2053 are noted.
