Growing planting material having closed root system is a forward-looking way of getting seedlings allowing to have a high survival rate in forest cultures and to perform planting during the whole frost-free period. However the data on planting material adaptation on clear cutting sites of Vologda Region are practically absent. For the first time in Vologda Region the sites with the seedlings having closed root system have been studied. They have been compared to traditional planting material (seedlings having open root system) in cultures grown in uniform conditions on clear cutting sites.
