Forestry and taxation features of the placement of drained forest lands in Cherepovets district, Vologda region

From the mid-1950s to the early 1990s, a comprehensive set of measures was implemented in the Vologda region to drain excessively moist swampy areas with the aim of increasing the productivity of forests. More than a third of the forest area in the region is classified under the hydro ameliorative fund. Currently, forest drainage activities are almost nonexistent in the country, including maintenance of the drainage canal network. This article analyzes the peculiarities of the placement of hydro ameliorative systems and provides a characterization of certain silvicultural and mensuration indicators for drained plantations in the Cherepovets district of the Vologda region.
