Ramensky's participation in the expedition of the Russian Geographical Society to the Kamchatka Peninsula in 1908 is discussed in the paper. The materials for the preparation of the paper were the documents of the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as well as existing publications. He was entrusted with the study of swamps and lakes, meteorological observations, collecting and studying mosses and algae. Ramensky wrote 5 essays-reports on the results of his work. Ramensky maintained an interest in physical-geographical and ecological research throughout his creative life. The skills gained during a trip to Kamchatka, coupled with the experience of working on the reservoirs of the north-west of Russia in 1907 and 1909, allowed Ramensky to become an authoritative expert in the study of riparian and aquatic vegetation. He was included in the commission for the development of "Programs for botanical and geographical research". Ramensky wrote the chapter "Aquatic and Riparian Vegetation" for this manual.
