The article describes in short the history of humanitarian geography in Russia. It is dealt with linguocultural aspect of humanitarian geography. It is specially noted the basic concepts and directions at the linguistic aspects of science. It draws our attention to interaction of philology with humanitarian geography. Data are given about image and status of the Ivanovo area at linguocultural aspects of humanitarian geography. It is described the basic interpretation of the status of the region.
