Linguistic and cultural aspect of foreign texts (based on the Russian language)

Modern language pedagogy considers the text as a means of forming competences both linguistic and sociocultural ones. Сultural and linguistic competence is of particular interest for investigation because it reflects the interrelation between language and culture, the system of cultural and social values. During the process of perception and comprehension of a foreign-language text, which contains a national cultural component, the role of commenting on culture-specific and historical concepts is increasing. A comment is possible at different levels, namely the levels of a word, a sentence, a whole text or its fragment, an image, a precedent phenomenon, etc. Such comments provide linguistic-cultural characteristic of a phenomenon considered. Using semantic analysis, descriptive method and elements of contextual analysis, the authors analyze several types of comments based on texts from student’s and teacher’s books. The comment helps a foreign student to comprehend culture-specific concepts by studying lexical and semantic features of the words in the text, to better understand the complexity of reality in the country of the studied language.
