Utopianism in Ivan Sokolov-Mikitov's prose of the 1920-s

The article is about utopianism as a characteristic feature of Ivan Sokolov-Mikitov’s prose. There are two kinds of utopia here: the first is socialist realistic utopia and the second is folklore and religious utopia embodied in the motive of searching for the “promised land”. The analysis is based on the work “Istok-city” and two editions of the story “Kamchatka”. A conclusion is drawn about the influence of utopianism of the 1920-s on the further creativity of the writer.
