The article dwells on the perception of Pushkin’s Tatjana Larina, the leading she- personage of the Russian classical literature, in the literary criticism of the most authoritative men of letters representing different cultural epochs in the pre- revolutionary Russia, such as V. G. Belinsky (1840-s), F. M. Dostoevsky (1870-s) and V. V. Rozanov (1900-s). Under discussion is Tatjana’s choice between love and duty. Positive or negative attitude towards her choice discloses the religious position and world outlook of the enumerated authors.
