The problems of creation of the artificial semiotic systems for the maintenance of scientific knowledge sphere are regarded in the article. The authors identify two paradigms in the creation of «universal» languages - traditional, based on logic, and figurative-and-schematic. In fact, these are two opposite ways of transformation of the natural language to present the results of scientific knowledge. However, it is shown that the attempts of construction of the scientific language in order to establish the scientific truths and to expand the scope of knowledge (the «universal», «ideal», «philosophical» language) are unsuccessful because they do not take into account the peculiarity of the cognitive process - the relation between language and thought.
