The rapid development of logistics began during the Second World War. The issues of multimodal logistics and the tasks of logistical management of the production capacities of the metallurgical industry were acute for the engineers of that time. Logistics played one of the key roles, and its decisionsrequired great responsibility. Simultaneously with the introduction of the military schedule, it was necessary to organize the whole range of measures for the implementation of large-scale military cargo transportation, such as organizing the delivery of weapons, food, uniforms, as well as the delivery of the military and the removal of the wounded, and much more. The operational solution of many tasks depended on a well-thought-out assessment of the remoteness of objects, terrain, economic and geographical conditions, as well as the state of the transport network, which had to be taken into account when making logistical decisions due to military laws. The wellorganized and skillfully organized work of the rear was the main factor in successful military operations. During the war, the material and technical supply of all sectors of the economy was carried out in a strictly centralized manner. Workers and engineers, along with enterprises, moved to other parts of the country, where they worked on the construction of new production facilities and at the same time worked on the modernization of production. Wartime logistics made it possible to solve the tasks of logistical support of the war economy, which required a truly original approach and a considerable amount of resourcefulness, and at the same time prevented the destruction of its integral structure. During the war years, logistical solutions were so debugged that it is difficult to imagine organizational and management schemes more universal. The methods and techniques used by military logistics have had a significant impact on the development of modern logistics.
