Meningiomas are called tumors of the membranes of the brain and spinal cord. A brief review of the structure of the membranes of the brain will help to further understand the localization of tumors. Meningiomas in 90% of cases are benign tumors and more often originate from the cells of the arachnoid membrane, much less often from the soft shell. They are characterized by slow growth and represent a delimited node, often soldered with a hard shell. The size of the tumor is several millimeters, sometimes reaches 10-15 cm. It is characteristic that these are out-of-brain formations - they do not germinate into the substance of the brain itself, but squeeze it and can affect the bones of the skull located nearby. Single meningiomas are a classic neurosurgical pathology, but multiple meningiomas can also develop, which are often difficult to treat. This disease is more common in women, occurs at the age of 40-60 years and the incidence increases with age. In women, meningioma with localization in the brain is noted 2 times more often, and the spinal cord - 4 times.
