Master’ s programs in the sphere of foreign-language education: meta-subject design

Problem and purpose. The article deals with the design activity for the development of master’s programs in the sphere of foreign language education that meet the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard of Higher Education (hereinafter referred to as the FSES of HE). The need for the integration of interdisciplinary and professional competencies necessitates the consideration of the meta-subject component in the development of the program. Here are some excerpts from the master’s programs realized at the Faculty of Foreign Languages of KSPU named after V.P. Astafiev as an example of meta-subject design in the framework of the competency-based approach, “Modern linguistic education” (intramural form of study) and “Innovative technologies in foreign-language education” (extramural form of study), the major is Teacher Education (44.04.01). The purpose of the article to identify and substantiate the algorithm for the development of the master’s program in the field of foreign language education, carried out during the meta-subject design of the competency-based model in conditions of the current educational standards. The methodology of the study is the analysis and synthesis of the current master’s programs in the sphere of foreign-language education, research works of domestic and foreign scientists recognized by the scientific community, the author’s experience in designing and implementing master’s programs in the sphere of foreignlanguage education. Results. On the basis of the activity-based and competency-based approaches, the basic requirements for the design of master’s programs in the sphere of foreign-language education in the conditions of the new FSES of HE are formulated. The article offers recommendations on the meta-subject design of master’s programs, which meet the requirements of the competency-based approach. Conclusion. The author’s concept of developing a master’s program in the sphere of foreign-language education, taking into account meta-subject design, is proposed in the article. It can be applied during the training of masters in the major of Teacher Education (44.04.01) (intramural and extramural forms of study). The effective organizational and pedagogical condition for its implementation is the availability of educational modules that ensure the interdisciplinary nature of education, which are meta-subject design of the educational process, a modular description of the results of mastering in the format of competences, research orientation, goal-setting and positioning of practice-oriented research projects in the framework of educational and training activities.
