Machiavellism as a phenomenon of social psychology

This article examines Machiavellianism as a phenomenon of social psychology by analyzing its origins and characteristics. The psychological mechanisms underlying Machiavellianism are considered, as well as personality traits, motivation, cognitive styles and social interactions that caused the phenomenon to appear. Special attention is paid to the mechanisms of manipulation, strategies of social influence, and the influence of this phenomenon on interpersonal interaction.
