“Small Homeland” as a Resource for Preserving the Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Mordovia
The article examines various aspects of the concept of “place of power,” which is associated with ethno-cultural features and emotional states that are significant to the local population. The aim of the work is to highlight and use the concept of “small homeland” for preserving the cultural heritage of Mordovia’s peoples. The work analyzes its content, which is traditionally represented as an individual’s place of birth and his or her childhood, but in a broader sense, includes a temporal aspect related to personal socio-cultural integration. The author emphasizes the importance of local identity, which is formed under the influence of traditions, historical events, and social relations. Local identity does not oppose to national identity but complements it creating a foundation for patriotism and respect for cultural diversity. In conclusion, the necessity of citizens’ regular participation in projects that support the ideas of conserving national languages and the ethnocultural code is underscored, which is particularly relevant in the context of contemporary challenges and intercultural interaction complexity.
