Malasseziosis in dogs

At present time a lot of attention among veterinary professionals attracted by the problem of opportunistic infections in animals caused by fungal microorganisms, in particular pathogenic properties of Malassezia fungi and their role in the occurrence of otitis in dogs. The object of the study was some dogs of private owners, who visited of the University veterinary clinic of the Omsk State Agrarian University named after P.A. Stolypin during the last year. Analysis of the outpatient data have showed that the lesion of the auditory apparatus in the form of otitis media have 40% of dogs, with most affected dogs breeds, such as Shar Pei, Dachshund and Labrador. Clinical and laboratory studies indicate that the lesion is caused by Malassezia are up to 20% of all the observed ear infections. Malasseziosis in dogs was accompanied by loss of appetite, severe itching in the region of ear canal by scratching the affected area to the blood, the formation of redness, alopecia, sebaceous exudate, peeling of skin and formation of redness on the skin...
