The article deals with the little known facts from the biography of Nestor (Anisimov) - the Archbishop of Petropavlovsk and Kamchatka, the Metropolitan of Harbin and Manchuria, the Exarch of the East-Asian Exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church. The study is based on some documents of the State Archive of the Russian Federation (SARF). We discuss the issues of his elevation to the rank of Metropolitan of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) abroad and rewarding with a diamond cross on the hood. These facts of the bishop’s life haven’t been reflected in serious scientific publications up to the present. It have been noted that the above biographical pages give an ambiguous assessment of Nes tor’s personality: by a person who applied for the rank and individual bishops of the ROC abroad. In this regard, further work with the sources is needed for restoration of a more complete biography of the Orthodox bishop.
