Manukhina: experience in implementing business functions in a Russian province of the XIX century

The article attempts to study of life Manukhin entrepreneurs, owners of metallurgical enterprises in Krasnoslobodsky County Penza province. The selected object of study is interesting both in terms of recreating life story Manukhin, and from the standpoint of analyzing the factors of business success, as well as understanding of the experience of implementation of the entrepreneurial function, implemented in a particular environment in which there was a system of interaction and influence a whole range of different factors. Under the conditions prevailing in the XIX century entrepreneurs Manukhin situation can be considered as actors of modernization changes associated with the transition from protoindustrialnogo to early industrial stage. Their example is interesting to see how this transition took place in the Russian provinces, where the thickness of the traditional economy to break with the dominant agricultural sector was extremely diffcult.
