This article describes a strategic approach to the development of the territories, who can provide in market conditions, the competitiveness of the territory in the long term and continuous growth of living standards of the population. Determined that the marketing of the municipality identifi es and partly contribute to the unique properties of territory, city, which may be useful for the target groups of consumers. The aim of the article is to explore the existing methods of the strategic approach in development planning regions and especially the use of the instruments of the urban marketing for development of the complex of economic policy.
