Machine building in Russia: trends in modern development

Mechanical engineering industries fulfill strategic functions in the national economy. In the current historical conditions of turbulence and uncertainty mechanical engineering enterprises show different adaptability and potential. The article is devoted to the identification of the main trends of mechanical engineering development in modern conditions. Among which are long stagnation, low profitability, but significant growth of labor productivity. In general, the analysis showed a low growth potential of mechanical engineering industries, however, the impact of modern technologies, including digital technologies, can be the basis for finding drivers for sustainable development.
