The article studies the methodological aspect of the teaching problem for students to mathematical methods and models in economics. During teaching to modeling methods, the independence of students is not only a means of testing knowledge, but also a kind of laboratory for understanding the essence of the subject and developing skills for applying theoretical knowledge in practice. Some recommendations for carrying out practical and laboratory classes are given.
