Mathematical and numerical analysis of investment project efficiency with the identification of its life cycle

The article is devoted to a brief description of the state of the issue and tools for analyzing investment projects aimed at identifying their life cycles. A one-formula model of an investment project in the form of a finite functional series and its mathematical analysis, including obtaining the sum of the series, as well as a meaningful economic interpretation and a hypothesis about the possibility of identifying the life cycle of an investment project, are presented. To test the hypothesis put forward, the author’s software package was used, which allows to investigate functions with parametrically specified characteristics. Graphical dependences of the sum of the series on a parameter that has a meaningful meaning of the planning horizon, as well as dependences of the net present value of an investment project on the specified parameter are obtained. The presented dependencies, in the first approximation, confirm the hypothesis put forward about the possibility of identifying the life cycle of an investment project by varying its other, meaningfully important characteristics - profit, investment volume, depreciation rate, discount rate. The conclusion is made about the feasibility and effectiveness of using the tools described in the work, not only for solving educational problems in the education system, but also for the purposes of operational analysis of information in situational decision-making centers of a socio-economic nature due to the ease of use of the described tools, clarity and speed of calculations.
