The article deals with the description of mother practice “healing” in Afro-American community in the novel “Sugar” by Bernice L. McFadden. Its essence reveals by showing how the recovery of adult black person, having been grown up without mother’s participation and with psychological injury having been got in the conditions of racism and discrimination, becomes possible thanks to the appearance of a woman in his life, looking after him with mother’s care.
