Introduction. The digital transformation of all spheres of society as an integral attribute of modern civilization is characterized by the sectoral penetration of high technologies in all significant applied areas. Law enforcement is no exception. It is impossible to imagine the modern work of criminal prosecution authorities without the use of numerous information retrieval systems and databases. However, users of existing software products may not think about how their functionality is algorithmized. In this connection, the purpose of the study is to investigate the matrixing and modeling of forensically significant information in the context of the digital transformation of civilization. Methods. During the research, the methods of comparative law and the method of analysis were used. Results. In the paper, the authors, relying on the information content and the implementation of embedded software functions, widely use the methods of matrixing and modeling, which have found specific application in forensic science. Conclusions. As a result of the study, it has been found that the methods under consideration have similar features. However, the differences between them are important. A proper understanding of the content of each of the methods contributes to their error-free application and evaluation of the results obtained. A special role is assigned to the correlation of methods in forensic theory and practice.
