Furnished Rooms as an Element of the Socio-Cultural Space of a Volga City in 1914-1918

The article, based on materials from the Samara province, presents materials about furnished rooms in the cities of the Volga region in the early 20th century. The author focuses on the regulatory aspects of the opening and functioning of this type of premises in the structure of urban space, studies the infrastructure of furnished rooms and identifi es the specifi cs of their equipment. The article demonstrates the dynamics of prices for furnished rooms during the World War I. The social base of owners and guests of this type of premises is investigated. The author drew attention to the national aspect of the functioning of furnished rooms in the structure of the socio-cultural space of the cities of the Samara province.
