Media literacy in the context of media education: an analytical review

This article deals with media education as a set of practical and theoretical knowledge and skills in the field of mass media. Various approaches to the definitions of "media education" and "media literacy"are analyzed in detail. Media and information literacy is considered as a key concept of media education in Russia and in the world as a whole. The most significant abilities, knowledge and skills which are formed as a result of media education of the personality are allocated.
