The article is devoted to the problem of fulfilling predictions of futurologists about the future of media culture. It is shown how accurately the prophecies of the classics of futurology of the last century are realized and what are the new difficulties arising in the media space. The negative features of modern media culture, predicted by scientists, such as the fragmentation and simulation nature of reality reflection in the media, the atomization of society with information interdependence, which is related to the issue of media freedom and access privileges to information, are identified. The modern media space is understood in the aspect of new feudalism, where the feud is information associated with a particular set of media resources that is conductive to the separation of people on the global scale. Alternative processes involved the development of media as a virtual tool providing unprecedented opportunities for engaging in media creation are discussed. The need is stressed to introduce the rulebook of digital safety for individual, to form their media competence and recognition of the right of access to information, its creation and share as inalienable.
