Mediatization of social practices in a modern city

The influence of the process of mediatization on the transformation of sustainable social relations and the formation of new social practices in urban space is devoted in the article. Based on the development of ideas about the city as a social space and noting the growing influence of various media tools on the daily life of citizens, the author suggests considering the modern social space as a unity of the urban and media environment. Studying the formation and development of new forms of social relations in the conditions of this unity requires the application of a wide range of theoretical approaches: sociological, urbanistic and media studies, etc. Based on the mutual complementation of these approaches, a new area of social science “media urbanism” should be formed. One of its main objects of study should be the transformation of public life in all its spheres in the context of the mediatization of urban practices.
