Medicine and philosophy: history and modernity

The article gives a brief overview of the history of the formation of medicine from the beginning to the present through the prism of author’s reading of medicine through philosophy. It offers a systematic analysis of the formation of medicine as art, as craft, as science, as postscience. The doctor’s figure stands out as a basic structural unit and a connecting link in the analysis of medical formation. It is concluded that the history of medicine is the history of the formation of the doctor’s thinking. Attention is focused on the fact that the clinical thinking of a modern doctor should fall into the focus of close attention and research of specialists in various fields of knowledge and be studied in a interdisciplinary aspect.
