Examination of persons in connection with their use of drugs in the RSFSR (The Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic) obtained for the first time legal regulation in the mid-1960s. Today, medical examination of a person to determine drug intoxication is a basic element in the system of combating drug trafficking, which significantly determines the effectiveness of operational-search and preventive work. In the article on the basis of the analysis of the legislation of the USSR, the RSFSR and the Russian Federation the author considers the purpose, grounds and legal consequences of the most frequently used types of medical examination of a person to determine drug intoxication.
