The article analyzes the mechanism and dynamics of the inertial dependence of modern Russian society on the Soviet past correlating with the phenomena associated with the frequency of forms of social life and types of sociality. The author concludes that nowadays Russia “is based on the past” from the preservation and reproduction of the nomenclature to the revival and conservation of the Soviet social institutions, cultural norms, patterns, rituals, up to geopolitical purposes. Inertial dependence in the political sphere can be considered from the standpoint of dysfunction and social barriers and the importance of maintaining the social stability of the system as a whole.
